This is a story I wrote in 1996 as I discovered the existence of the newsgroup alt.religion.scientology. It describes how I came to be involved and how I eventually quit the movement.

The story is somewhat longuish and you can find a shorter version (though different in scope) in the about section, and yet another one on my personal website.

An interesting aspect of this story, in the context of the whole web site, is that it was written when I was still very critical of Scientology and my differences with other critics in the newsgroup weren't yet present.
