Who is doing this? The Church of Scientology itself. The CoS *hates* this newsgroup, which was the first gathering point for opponents of their organisation. They do not want you to read bad things about their organisation, true or not. They believe all their opponents are criminals.

How can you help?

(1) DONT reply to posts with alt.religion.scientology in the Header. You are only adding to the spam.

(2) DONT reply to THIS message before removing all the newsgroups in the header EXCEPT for your own. That way you won't be spamming other newsgroups.

(3) DO tell everyone about how the Church of Scientology are abusing the Internet.

(4) And, if you like, take a look at the many Web Sites telling the truth about the 'Church' of Scientology, who claim to have converted over 4 million Christians to their religion by telling them it is compatible with Christianity - and not telling them they believe Jesus Christ never existed.

Good old Scientology, and 1200 more spams today... They obviously see this going on for as long as they can burn ISPs, and also think that they're never gonna get caught for the most blatant abuse of usenet I've ever seen.
