Tory Christman - Magoo and Jett Travolta - 2003 Affidavit

Magoo blaming Scientology for what she is doing herself.

Tory Christman

Magoo and Jett Travolta

In her video and in statements to the press, Magoo describes How she was ordered in 1972 to stop her medication.

Her claim is that Scientology does not allow people to take anti-seizure medications.

This contradicts her 2003 affidavit in which she writes that this order was reversed in 1972 by L. Ron Hubbard himself, that in 1989 a C/S bulletin was written saying people should not be forced to stop their medication, and that for 31 years, between 1969 and 2000, she was allowed on staff and online while on her medication.

Magoo's intention was clearly to create a panic in public opinion, capitalizing on the emotions created by the tragic death of Jett Travolta.

Magoo also deletes messages and bans from her youtube channel people who disagree with her. This is quite at odd with what she is pretending to preach to the Church of Scientology.

Tory Christman - Magoo and Jett Travolta - 2003 Affidavit

(Please note: this page is under construction)

Lies:

  • Describes her experience of being ordered to stop her medications in 1972 but forgets to say that this order was canceled by L. Ron Hubbard himself. She also blacks out all the subsequent events present in her 2003 affidavit that shows how she was allowed for 31 years in Scientology while on her medication.

    • Claim:

The claims she makes (in addition to her video and press statements) are summarized in her channel response in which after numerous instances of inconsistencies being pointed out, she still does not see what is wrong with her presentation. Here is a screenshot:

    • From Magoo's affidavit:

"After much arguing, I finally told them I wanted a pen and paper as I was writing Hubbard. He wrote me back and informed me I was not a Freeloader and that was incorrect. I needed to pay for the 2 courses I had then taken and "continue getting auditing in the HGC and we will see you up the line"."

  • Claims that she was again ordered to stop her medication in 1979, when in fact it is clear from her affidavit that this was her own decision.

    • Claim:

"In 1979 I was AGAIN ordered off my medication, by C of S--and ended up in Morton Plant Hospital."

    • From Magoo's affidavit:

"So if I were to achieve OT, I would be done with Seizures, one would think. [...] After attesting to OT 3, I once again tried to get off of my medication, only to end up in a hospital with status epileptis, or many seizures."

  • Forgets to mention that in 1989, after an other illegal order by a 15 years old boy, the order was again over-turned by the senior C/S who also wrote a bulletin saying people should not be prevented from taking their medication and who sent to review the staff who tried to stop Tory from taking.

    • Claim:

"In 1989 I was told "You are not allowed on the Flag Land Base."

    • From Maggo's affidavit:

"Long story short, I fought ALL of the technical people there and insisted my folders be sent up to RTC (the top Management/Technical people). After one month of reviewing my situation, the Senior Case Supervisor called Flag and told them I had a FULL Ok to do all of the levels up to OT 8. They also sent a full Cram (Correction) for every single Technical terminal there re medication, and they wrote a Senior C/S International bulletin, and I'm the first example. It basically says if someone has tried to get off of medication and they cannot, and they have an OK from their Doctor, they should not be stopped from getting auditing."

  • Magoo continues to claim that the CoS does not allow people their medication, in spite of the fact her affidavit proves the contrary and that there exist apparently a C/S bulletin doing so, official statements from the CoS, and several testimonies contradicting Magoo's latest assertions.

Justification for lying:

  • "I fought the CoS for 30 years over this" - giving the impression that she was not allowed to take her medication until 30 years later. Is of course another lie. After the 1972 episode she only had to fight 17 years later with the Flag Land Base incident in 1989. After this, she stayed another 11 years with no problems until 2000 when she left the Church. Add another 3 years, from 1969 to 1972 when she was not bothered about it either. In total, she spent 3 months in the incident she describes, out of 30 years virtually problem free.

  • "I was considered as a leper" - subjective impression very different from being ordered to stop her medication. Given her obvious paranoia as a critic, I have some doubt that this subjective impression reflects anything in reality.

  • "You are trying to change my story" - nobody is changing anything. The affidavit she made in 2003 is freely available. The "message to Travolta" video is available online. The statements she made to the press are public and available too. It is easy to compare the two version and see for oneself.

Other Testimonies

  • Tory's testimony is the only one I know that claim she was forced off of her medication. There may be others, but I don't know of them.

  • On the other hand, I have seen quite a few testimonies to the contrary in the aftermath of the Jett Travolta tragedy. Here they are"

"I took an epilepsy medication called Topamax for over a year and my family in Scientology didn't freak out in the least. It was a powerful medication, so they were concerned--but they didn't try to talk me out of taking it. And when it helped they were happy that it worked for me."

"I have a friend who is epileptic and a Scientologist and she takes her meds and does Scientology and has for years."

"I can add some personal experience to this, namely from knowing two epileptics and Scientologists who are taking their medicine regularly. "

"For example, my neighbor, who is a Scientologist, has a child who is autistic. She has a doctor she takes her boy to and she follows the treatment program the doctor prescribes."

Censorship

  • The first poster posted nothing more than something like "Magoo forgets to say that the orders to stop her medications were reversed by higher authorities and that she spent 30 years in Scientology while being allowed on her medication. Google Tory 2003 affidavit". The message was deleted and the user banned. She made a quick lying justification message that ended by "you deny it? SAY IT HERE", knowing full well that the poster could not respond since she already banned him.

  • The second poster reposted the message and again she deleted it and banned him.

  • I recorded the third poster through screen shot. He made four no-spam posts, factual, short and simply addressing ongoing discussions. Three of these four questioned the inconsistency and the fourth was about an unrelated question. She deleted the three and let the fourth.

  • In reaction to her censorship, the fourth poster replied directly to posters. This has for effect that a copy of the message goes in the inbox of the poster, where Magoo cannot delete it, in addition of being posted on channel. In reaction she let (so far) one of these message with some justification trying to riggle out of it, and boasting how it is good that critics can ask people to look at both side - this after repeatedly trying to censor the dissent in question!

Justification for censoring:

  • "You don't care for me" - irrelevant

  • "This is black PR"- it only is legitimate questions about the inconsistency between the two versions. Often times, the messages were little more than "Google Tory 2003 affidavit and compare the two versions". Talk about "black PR". It is exactly the same as when Scientologist claim that dissent is "entheta".

  • "It is a distraction" - since when on-topic legitimate questions and pointing to inconsistencies in a democratic debate is a "distraction"?
